Presence of IT and Fonterra win SAP Best Run Award

SAP Australia and New Zealand has acknowledged the award-winning efforts of partners at the first SAP Best Run Awards. The awards recognised and celebrated successful businesses that utilise SAP products in the Australia and New Zealand region and were announced at a function at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney on 7 August, 2019.

Presence of IT, along with client Fonterra, won the Best Run SAP Human Resources and People Management award for the implementation of SAP SuccessFactors to increase HR efficiency, which freed up over 59 staff hours per month through automation and delivered over 25,000 hours of education.

The challenges for Fonterra in deploying new technology included geographic spread of the company in 29 countries and across four different languages, in a culture where there is sometimes a lack of hardware or shared hardware, a mixed workforce of operational and professional users, and sometimes fear around change.

Fonterra’s commitment to enhancing their people processes and systems has included a number of SuccessFactors modules: Learning, Succession & Development and Employee implemented in 2016; SF Central and SF Knowledge Centre in 2017, and the team is currently working on implementing Recruitment and Onboarding in 2019.

“The SuccessFactors modules have transformed the employee experience,” said Tina Lundkvist, General Manager People Analytics at Fonterra. “The successes of technology introduced have particularly been in the areas of performance reviews, salary reviews, talent and collaboration of talent and automation of onboarding. The next steps in our digital transformation journey is to ensure that we continue to drive value from the technology that we already have. ”

“We are well on the path to creating a culture that people want to work in – and better employee engagement – by simplifying the experience, minimising duplication, automating, and providing a consistent global approach. In these times of change we are driven by clarity in purpose, vision and strategy.” Tina Lundkvist

Presence of IT role in partnering with Fonterra included ongoing consulting, design advice and system enhancements; implementation partner for EC, Learning, and Proof of Concept for Recruiting and Onboarding; SAP SuccessFactors Support Partner.

Presence of IT’s SAP SuccessFactors Solution Architect, Kelly Martin, describes the experience: “It has been a privilege to watch Fonterra’s SAP SuccessFactors journey since 2016.  Through experience, Fonterra have matured in the way they have enabled the system to work for their business. They have simplified where possible and embraced new features and functionality. Fonterra are seen as a leader of technology in NZ and are always happy to share their knowledge and learnings with the wider HR community.”
