The introduction of Single Touch Payroll (STP) signifies a new age in digital reporting and forms part of the Government's Digital by Default strategy. Employers will report salary, wages, PAYG withholding and superannuation,information through to the ATO at every pay event. The impact on the employee means they will have access to their up to date tax and superannuation information on their myGov account.
SAP Australia released its STP solution in the October HR Support Pack (HRSP)/Country Legal Change (CLC) which became available on 11/10/2018. To receive the solution, customers must apply the aforementioned HRSP. An additional consideration, is that the November Synchronisation HR Support is normally the minimum required HRSP for Year End. Therefore it is advisable to go up to the November 2018 HRSP as a minimum.
Transmission of the file, and communication between the ATO and your payroll software should be secure and encrypted following the EbMS3/AS4 protocol. To this end, SAP's recommended approach is to use the SAP Cloud Platform Integration (SCPI) solution.
